DALLAS (Reuters) - A Texas woman charged with violating obscenity laws for selling a sexual toy and explaining to her customer how to use it has had the case against her dismissed, court officials said on Monday.

Joanne Webb, a mother of three and a former schoolteacher in the town of Burleson near Forth Worth, was facing up to a year in jail after she sold a vibrator at a private party to two undercover police officers posing as a married couple.

Justices block Internet porn law

WASHINGTON � Wide-open free speech remains the rule on the Internet, the Supreme Court said yesterday, as it barred prosecutors from enforcing a federal law that would make it a crime for commercial Web sites to post sexually explicit material where children and teenagers could see it.

'No link' between sex, money

MORE money does not lead to more sex, economic researchers concluded in a study released by a major US economic institute.

The study by David Blanchflower of Dartmouth University and Andrew Oswald of Britain's Warwick University focused on the "still relatively unexplored links between income, sexual activity and well-being", the economists wrote.

Boobies are threatening America, and it's got to stop. At least, that's the gist of Attorney General John Ashcroft's latest project: the war on porn.

Ashcroft, whom the Baltimore Sun describes as a man "who does not drink alcohol or caffeine, smoke, gamble or dance," already has troops on the front line spending eight hours a day surfing pornographic websites in search of prosecutable obscenity.
